As a 3rd generation pastor’s kid being thrown into ministry at a very young age, experiencing God then and experiencing God now is night and day. Growing up in a ethnically homogenous church context meant that God, ministry, and church was taught and expressed in one way. Although there were moments where I felt the presence of God in my spiritual journey serving the church, for the most part Christianity was more cultural rather than transformational.
It wasn’t until I left the church, and went on a spiritual journey of my own, that I found God through experiencing His grace and love in the darkest time in my life. Knowing that Jesus still loves and continued to show me favor when I have turned my back, neglected His name, and even hated the church, allowed me to realize that no matter how far I think I might have gone away from God, as soon as I take the first step back, God will welcome and champion me back to His arms.
Experiencing God in my life started with faith, transformed by grace, and revealed through His love.
How did the Spirit guide you to your current ministry and what has God called you to do through your ministry?
